If it’s time for you to enjoy a big change, but you’re not interested in changing your address, it might be a great time to switch up your kitchen! It is possible to make a major shift in the way your kitchen looks without gutting the entire home, thank goodness! If you’re looking to make a change, though, it can be daunting especially if you don’t want to change your cabinetry! How can you make a major aesthetic change without taking out a minor loan?

Change the Colors

There are a great number of color shifts you can make without breaking the bank! If you have older cabinetry, it’s possible to sand and paint, or use chalk paint, to make them stand out. Seafoam greens look particularly beautiful on cabinets and bring in a cottage-core aesthetic. If you can’t paint cabinets, of course walls are a great option. Rich warm tones are in style at the moment for walls as well. If renting, there are options like peel and stick wallpapers and backsplashes!

Replace Your Appliances

Stainless steel appliances look more professional. If you’re in a place where you want to do a remodel without tearing out all of your cabinetry and countertops, your best bet is to replace appliances with matching options. Having matching stainless dishwasher, refrigerator, and other accouterments like toasters, etc, can create a professional, sleek design look. If unable to immediately match with new appliances, it’s possible to replace them gradually over time, and enjoy the same benefit.

Switch Your Shelving

It’s possible that you want a bit more of a shift in your aesthetic look. Open shelving is a lovely option to use, especially if your older cabinets don’t offer what you want, or don’t have the high storage that you need. Cabinet doors can be taken from higher cabinets and the inside of the cabinets painted or wallpapered. Shelving can be installed fairly inexpensively to fill spaces which need utilitarian function. This creates both storage for plates and cups, bowls, etc, but also display if you have “pretties” to show off.

Your beautiful kitchen’s aesthetic should match your personal style! Aim for open space, and clear those countertops as best as possible of appliances you’re not currently using. Switch up what you can, and decorate with what you love! The important thing is falling back in love with your kitchen work spaces!
